Over 7,000 lynchings (a racial weapon of brutality and death) have occurred in the United States. After multiple attempts (over 200), congress finally passed the Emmett Till Anti-Lynching Act. Lynching, now a federal hate crime, can add an additional 30 years to a prison sentence.
