LEARNING TOGETHER: The Story of America
On February 3, 1870, the 15th Amendment was ratified, giving African American men the right to vote. Because of Southern states determination to stop Black people from voting, it took years and the passing of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 before all Americans could vote without fear of intimidation, beatings, and even death.
