On February 1, 1960, four young Black men sat down at a Woolworth lunch counter and asked to be served. Though they were refused service; they came back again and again. Their actions and bravery of thousands of students across the country gave birth to the American Sit-In Movement.  Eventually, Woolworth along with countless other businesses were forced to end their demeaning practice of separate but equal. One pin represents the brick wall of hate that had to be knocked down. The other pin shows the pride that many felt when America began to desegregate.
